Summary
Atrial fibrillation is the most common type of heart rhythm abnormality and affects 5 million adults in the U.S.. It is a progressive disease, and despite of recent advances in medical procedure, up to 40% of the patients will need recurrent invasive medical procedures to attempt to control atrial fibrillation. Dr. Hakan Oral, a leader in the field of clinical electrophysiology, is conducting cutting edge research using human stem cell-derived heart cells to unveil mechanisms for a new treatment for atrial fibrillation.

Responsibilities*
- Perform cell culture including maintenance of human induced pluripotent stem cells(hiPSCs).
- Differentiate hiPSCs into cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CMs).
- Perform optical mapping experiments and wet lab techniques such as western blot, immunofluorescence, nucleic acid isolation and downstream molecular biology techniques such as QPCR.
Required Qualifications*
- Associate Degree.
- 1-3 years experience.
Desired Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree.
- Previous experience with pluripotent stem cells preferred.
Work Locations
The work will take place at the beautiful North Campus Research Complex and requires eventual weekend rotation to care for stem cells and differentiations.
Background Screening
