Summary

The Ganesh Lab in the Internal Medicine Department, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is looking for a highly motivated individual for a Research Laboratory Technician Associate/Intermediate position. The candidate will be a member of a dynamic collaborative research lab involved in genetics research in cardiovascular diseases, particularly those that disproportionately impact women. Candidates will gain exposure to genetic, clinical and translational research.  The primary role of this position will be to assist the lab manager with the management of cardiovascular mouse models, coordinate experiments, and analysis of related data.

Responsibilities*

The applicant would be responsible for a variety of duties including but not limited to:

  • Managing mouse colonies: breeding, DNA isolation, genotyping PCR, sanger sequencing evaluations, harvesting tissues, and records management.
  • Processing a variety of mouse/human samples-blood, tissue, and cell lines.
  • Assisting with a variety of experimental methods including but not limited to: DNA/RNA isolations, PCR, qPCR, cell culture, and isolation of protein.
  • Assisting the Lab Manager with sample management and compliance duties.
  • Keeping a detailed and accurate record of experiments and updating databases.
  • Participating in lab meetings.

Required Qualifications*

Intermediate Level: 

  • Bachelors degree in biological/animal science, health, or related field of study and 1-3 years of experience.

Associate Level:

  • Associates degree in biological/animal science, health, or related field of study and 0-1 years of experience.

Both:

  • Have a willingness to acquire new skills including mouse handling.
  • Detailed-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research team.

Desired Qualifications*
  • Prior research lab experience.
  • Experience working with animal models.
  • Familiarity with blood processing and culturing of cell lines.

Background Screening
