Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The School of Education is an academic unit reporting to the Provost. The School is a major center of research, teaching, and public service within the State of North Carolina, the nation, and the world. The School offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate programs. The mission of the School of Education is to conduct research, and generate basic and applied knowledge about human development, educational technology and entrepreneurship, teaching and learning, school counseling, school psychology, administration, as well as educational policy and leadership; prepare leaders in the profession of education by conducting outstanding research, teaching, and service; and assist in the development of strong and effective public schools in North Carolina. In order to fulfill its mission, the School is organized into three academic divisions: (1) Culture, Curriculum, & Teacher Education (CCATE), (2) Learning, Development & Psychological Sciences (LDPS), and (3) Educational Policy, Organization, & Leadership (EPOL).
Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a research lab coordinator for Dorothy Espelage’s Violence Prevention lab in the School of Education. This research lab coordinator will work closely with Espelage to manage school-based research projects. This position requires an understanding of implementation of social-emotional learning programs in K-12 settings, development of online professional development for K-12 educators, knowledge of social science and research methods, knowledge of meta-analytic approaches, and knowledge of SPSS statistical software and APA manuscript formatting. Candidates must be organized, accurate, and efficient in processing, and recording data for multiple projects. Tasks may include cleaning and processing surveys and screening articles for literature review projects.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

The ability to solve unexpected problems and work effectively with a team is required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience of scientific writing and publications is preferred.
