The Ginsburg laboratory is looking for a Research Investigator to independently perform and manage research that examines the transport of secretory proteins from the ER to the Golgi. This work will involve sophisticated use of cell biologic and microscopic techniques, and the latest genomic technologies, including next-generation sequencing, CRISPR/CAS9 and proteomics. You will report directly to Dr. Ginsburg and will work full-time on-site.
Experimental responsibilities will include:
- Apply high throughput genomic CRISPR screens to identify novel components of the ER/Golgi secretory pathway concerning specific cargo proteins
- Characterize the full range of secreted proteins dependent on specific cellular cargo receptors
- Identify structural motifs within specific cargo receptors mediating their interaction with their corresponding cargo proteins
- Maintain bacterial and mammalian cell cultures and stocks
Non-experimental responsibilities will include:
- Provide consultation and advice to lab members in areas of expertise
- Assist PI in preparing manuscripts and grants
- Mentor the research work of junior trainees in the lab including postdoctoral fellows and undergraduate students
- Present research work at scientific platforms within and outside the Institute
- Ph.D. in relevant biology-related field
- Minimum four years of postdoctoral experience in cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology
- Minimum three years of experience with cell biologic methods, characterizing Golgi structure and function, and corresponding defects in human disease
- Minimum three years of experience studying the regulation of redox homeostasis in the endoplasmic reticulum
- Minimum four years of experience supervising the research activities of graduate students, technicians, and undergraduate students
