RESEARCH INTERN

Research Intern- Emergency Department:

The Research Intern will provide support for the Emergency Medicine research program by performing activities in specialized patient areas, screening, and enrolling study subjects for clinical trials, working directly with patients, including patient consent, patient interviews, data collection, and biospecimen collection.

Position Percent Time: 100% through 06/30/2025- this is a one-year appointment.

Job Duties:

• Conduct research duties


• Enroll study subjects from Emergency Medicine and UIHC ICUs


• Data collection


• Help manage project, facilities, and research equipment.


• Perform chart abstractions.

• 8 or 12 hours shifts on a 36/40/48-hour per week, three-week rotation:
  
  
  
  • Work week hours will vary/rotate at 36,40, 48 hours in any combination.
  
  
  • Schedule shifts will vary and include day/ evening/night shifts on rotation. 
  
  
  
  


• Work every other weekend.


• Holidays as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree to be completed by hire date.

• Prior experience with healthcare/clinical/ or clinical research experience.


• Proficient in computer software applications including Microsoft Office.

• Training or experience in a medical or health care setting


• Plan to pursue a graduate degree, post-graduate training, or professional degree in science, medicine or a related field.


• Emergency Medicine experience/exposure highly desired.


• Anticipated career in medicine or a healthcare profession desired.


• Familiarity with medical terminology desired.


• Prior experience in clinical trials or research study/design/enrollment
