Summary

The Wu laboratory at the Life Sciences Institute (LSI) is looking for a postdoctoral research fellow to join their research team. The lab is well funded in metabolic research, in thermogenic adipocyte regulation and alcoholic and nonalcoholic fatty liver diseases and has a strong track record of publishing in high profile journals such as (Nature Medicine, Developmental Cell, EMBO journal) and supporting trainees' career development by helping them obtain fellowships from NIH, AHA and secure independent positions both in academia and industry. You will report directly to Dr. Wu and will work full-time on-site.


Responsibilities*

Experimental responsibilities will include:

  • Molecular biology, PCR, DNA and RNA purification, plasmid cloning
  • Gene expression analysis by qPCR, western blotting, and immunohistochemistry
  • Mammalian cell culture with both immortalized cell lines and primary preadipocyte/hepatocyte isolation and assay
  • Retroviral and adenoviral techniques      

Non-experimental responsibilities will include:

  • Mentor undergraduates, graduate students, and lab technicians
  • Assist PI with writing manuscripts and grants

Required Qualifications*
  • Ph.D. in fields related to biomedical sciences
  • Two years of experience in mouse genetics and animal physiology
  • Two years of experience in the metabolic field
  • Publications in high profile journals as a primary author
  • Two years of experimental troubleshooting and analysis and presentation of data in professional formats
  • Two years of experience leading research projects in a basic science research lab
  • Two years of experience writing manuscripts and grants

Desired Qualifications*
  • One year of experience in flow cytometry
