Summary

The laboratory of Dr. Isabelle Lombaert at the University of Michigan seeks to hire an enthusiastic Postdoctoral fellow. The prospective candidate will work on a project focusing on sensory innervation of the salivary glands by trigeminal neurons in collaboration with Dr. Joshua Emrick. Candidates are expected to contribute to projects both intellectually and technically, actively participate in the preparation of grants and manuscripts, and present their work at team meetings and conferences. Candidates should have prior research experience or training in neuroscience, experience with animal work (handling, breeding, microsurgeries, necropsy), tissue processing, immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridization, tissue clearing, calcium imaging, electrophysiology and/or confocal imaging. Experience in single cell sequencing and bioinformatics is preferable, or willingness to learn and execute. We are looking for a team player with a positive and respectful attitude towards colleagues, flexibility, and drive to learn new techniques. I addition, the candidate needs to demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as a team member.

The Lombaert lab is located in the vibrant North Campus Research Complex (NCRC) of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. The NCRC houses diverse laboratories, research cores, and units promoting commercial advancements of ideas. Our group is also part of the Biointerfaces Institute. The Biointerfaces Institute houses various multidisciplinary labs with a strong focus on basic and translational sciences.

Required Qualifications*
  • A PhD in the field of Biology or Neurosciences.
  • A track record of high-quality research demonstrated by publications.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Cover letter is required to be considered.

Desired Qualifications*
  • Prior research or training in neuroscience.
  • Experience with single cell sequencing and bioinformatics.
  • Experience with animal work.
