The Department of Global Health at the Boston University School of Public Health has an opening for a master’s graduate or pre-doctoral fellow to perform quantitative data analysis for research projects on the economics and epidemiology of HIV in sub-Saharan Africa, including differentiated service delivery models for HIV treatment and integration of HIV and non-HIV care.

This is a 9-month, full-time, grant-funded position with the possibility of an extension based on performance and continuation of grant funding. The position is based in Boston, with the option to work remotely some days, depending on project and departmental activities. The candidate will join Professor Sydney Rosen’s established research team and report to Professor Rosen and/or a current doctoral candidates may be considered for a part time position.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities will depend on qualifications but will likely include the following:

  • Statistical and other quantitative analysis of healthcare outcomes using large electronic medical record data sets from South Africa, Zambia, Malawi, etc.
  • Analysis of resource utilization and cost data collected by field teams.
  • Data management, including but not limited to data cleaning and manipulation.
  • Development and presentation of reports on research progress and results.
  • Contribution to generating manuscripts, abstracts, presentations, etc.
  • Assistance with project management and administrative tasks, including ethics submissions and other tasks as needed and requested by project leadership.

  • MPH (or equivalent in a quantitative analysis field) or current pre-doctoral student.
  • Strong skills in data management and analysis in a healthcare field.
  • Training and documented experience with quantitative and statistical analytic methods.
  • Knowledge of data analysis software (R, SAS, and/or STATA).
  • Willingness to spend time in South Africa and other field locations if needed.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, leadership, writing, and oral presentation skills.
  • Highly motivated self-starter who is able to meet and exceed project goals with minimal supervision.
