Job Summary

Department Description

The research analyst will be a part of the pediatric type 2 diabetes research group led by Dr. Shylaja Srinivasan, MD who is a part of the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology in the Department of Pediatrics. This is a dynamic, collaborative research team with a diverse research portfolio focused on investigating the genetic predictors of type 2 diabetes and related traits in youth and evaluating therapeutic strategies for type 2 diabetes in youth.

The Department of Pediatrics is one of the largest and most complex departments in the School of Medicine (SOM). The department is comprised of 18 divisions, with clinical income from inpatient and outpatient activities total over $65 million dollars in charges and annual extramural funding (contracts and grants) exceeding $35 million. The Department's mission includes research (both basic and clinical), education, patient care and public service.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience
  • Working knowledge of clinical research principles and research design
  • Working skills in statistical analysis, systems programming, database design sing statistical software such as SPSS, STATA, SAS, R or Python
  • Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated interest and ability in scientific writing to communicate research methods, context within existing literature and results in well-written prose
  • Proficiency in creating publication-quality tables and figures to communicate research results visually using software such as excel, PowerPoint, keynote, Tableau, adobe illustrator, adobe photoshop etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in relevant field (Statistics, Genetic Epidemiology,  Data Science)              
  • Experience with genetic analysis ( common variant analysis, polygenic scores etc)
