Position Summary
This position will be with Dr. Channing Der’s research group in the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. The position will involve research delineating a targeted therapy for pancreatic cancer, a cancer where current chemotherapeutic drugs involve conventional cytotoxic drugs. The research will involve a multi-omics experimental approach to define targeted drug combinations that overcome drug resistance mechanisms.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Excellent communication skills, Microsoft Office Suite, and the abilities to work independently and within a group.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
A track record of identifying, developing and leading projects through to publication in top-tier peer-reviewed cancer research journals, and prior expertise in cancer drug discovery and therapeutics that will lead to the development of novel therapeutic strategies for pancreatic cancer. Strong experience and background in human cancer biology research is a requirement. Prior experience in drug discovery, genetic and chemical library high throughput screens, signal transduction, biochemistry of protein kinases, cancer genetics, and computational biology.
