Position Summary/Description:

As a Research Associate at the Biomedical Research Imaging Center, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, you will leverage your expertise in multimodal imaging technologies and preclinical research to contribute to the design, execution, and analysis of studies. Responsibilities will include the following:

• Collaborate with internal and external researchers to design, execute, and analyze preclinical imaging studies across a variety of research areas.
• Utilize various preclinical imaging systems and imaging analysis software to support research activities. Hands-on experience with Sedecal SuperArgus 4R PET/CT and Sedecal SuperArgus Compace PET is highly desirable. 
• Utilize cell biology and molecular biology expertise to support research activities. 
• Maintenance of imaging data records and logs. Data documentation, analysis, visualization, and storage to ensure accurate and reliable research outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with IACUC policies and regulations, and proficiently prepare animal protocols.
• Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of new developments in the field and keen to learn new skills to help contribute to our multi-disciplinary teams.
• Contribute to the mentoring and training of laboratory staff on best practices and techniques.
• Participate in the presentation and publication of research findings.

Education and Experience:

Preclinical molecular imaging experience. Proficient in radiotracer in vitro and in vivo characterization. Expertise in wet lab techniques tissue, cell culture, receptor binding assay, radiotracer uptake efflux assay, immunihistochemistry, Western Blots, qPCR. Demonstrated experience in designing imaging experiments, quantitating and analyzing imaging data. Previous experience with in vivo cell tracking is a plus. A particular emphasis on the development of novel molecular PET probes to image targets. Animal handling and in vivo pharmacology experience as well as previous experience with lab organization, protocol development, instrument maintenance, and preparation of IACUC documents. Applicants should have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent problem solving skills and focus on process driven results. Should have the ability to build productive internal and external working relationships.
