The School of Pharmacy is looking for a Research Assistant to serve as a member of the Pharmaceutical Sciences team. We

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • Appropriate bachelor’s degree

  • Two years of relevant professional experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and ability to design, plan, conduct and coordinate experiments in support of various research projects

  • Evaluation, selection, and application of standard research techniques and data collection

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS degree in biological/life science

  • Two or more years of experience in a cancer biology/molecular biology laboratory

  • Experience in techniques such as cell isolation, Western blot, DNA and RNA purification, PCR, ELISA, and maintenance of animal care etc

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat

  • Interest in learning new techniques

  • Highly motivated and organized

  • Strong desire and demonstrated ability to advance scientific projects

  • Excellent work ethic

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Enjoys working as a team member as well as independently


Responsibilities:

50% - Research

  • Design protocol for Lab procedure projects including, but not limited to, cell isolation using techniques such as cell culture, Western blot, DNA and RNA purification, PCR, ELISA, immunocytochemistry/histochemistry and flow cytometry.

  • Prepares reagents.

  • Oversee undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research.

40% - Administrative

  • Lab Duties: General laboratory duties such as research equipment maintenance and operation and maintaining a safe working environment.

  • Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis.

  • Documentation: Oversees and maintains an accurate inventory of laboratory animals and supplies.

  • Participate in general lab organization and maintenance.

  • Ordering supplies and managing inventory, and performing other duties as assigned.

10% - Animal Research

  • Maintenance of animal care
