Work Performed

You will be involved in clinical and epidemiology research projects under Dr. Treggiari’s supervision. 

• You will work under the guidance of the Vice Chair of Research and other mentors and collaborators to assist in the development and implementation of research protocols. 

• You will be expected to be highly mentally engaged in their projects, and should possess the ability to design, conduct, and execute the projects independently with minimal input from the PI. 

• You are expected to have a significant role the overall scope an d execution of their scientific projects and contribute to the methodology core of the population health research program. 

• </span >You are expected to contribute to data collection, data cleaning, and data analysis. 

• You will be writing and/or contributing to the preparation of manuscripts resulting from this work. 

• You will work with the mentoring team on developing a care er development plan and with the mentor guidance strive to develop your own creative ideas to apply for grants and pursue extra-mural funding. You will be expected to accomplish career development or independent funding within 2 years of starting the position.

• You will report on the progress made on their research projects at least quarterly, including progress made on preparing grant applications, and on research productivity. 

• You will be expected to learn about good clinical practice for ethical conduct of human subject research, learning study protocols for ongoing research projects, and contributing to the development and implementation of future research protocols . 

• You will also learn and become familiar with data management systems including Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) and Duke Electronic Health Record. 

• You will be expected to maintain high-fidelity records and documentation of all research and professional activities and conduct themselves with high moral and ethical principles, congruent with policies outlined by the Duke Office of Scientific Integrity. Due to the collaborative nature of our work, applicants must be comfortable working with multidisciplinary research teams, and should be highly organized, collegial, and conduct themselves in a highly professional manner. 

In addition to the research activities, you are expected to attend departmental ground round s, conferences, as well as research seminars.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Min Degree Requirements:  Ph.D. o r equivalent doctorate (e.g. Sc.D.,M.D., D.V.M.).

Other Credential/Experiential Requirements:  The appointee must have greater than 5 years of postdoctoral training.
