Required Qualifications

Education:

  • A masters degree in behavioral science, public health, or a related field is required

Work Experience:

  • Experience working with local health departments or applied practice settings


Preferred Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • One year of experience in health or public health field
  • One year working in applied public health setting

Skills:

  • Strong writing skills and experience working on or with interdisciplinary research teams
  • Skills in critical thinking, problem solving, and attending to details
  • Ability to interact effectively with research team
  • Organized, with excellent time management skills


Job Duties Outlined:

  • Conducts collaborative research, and contributes to the development of new research ideas, giving direction to the project
  • Conducts research on topics related to public health practice
  • Supports the development and maintenance of partnerships between academic and local health department partners
  • Supports implementation of collaborative activities identified as part of academic health department relationships
  • Prepares papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present lectures at conferences
  • Supports grant-writing activities
  • Supports public health practice needs identified by the supervisor as needed

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
