Job Description Summary:
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking a talented Research Associate to work on thrombosis and hemostasis, as well as vascular biology. The Research Associate should be able to identify the critical knowledge gaps in the field, to formulate comprehensive research strategies, and then execute rigorous methodological and analytical steps. The ideal candidate should also pitch the projects for publication and assist the principal investigator for obtaining research funding.
To ensure success as a Research Associate, the candidate should possess top-notch data analysis and report writing capacities. Invariably, a superb Research Associate will seek to foster gainful partnerships within the laboratory and department or institution.
Job Description:
Required Qualifications
Education: Master's Degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field.
Work Experience:
5+ years of research experience.
Hands-on experience in handling animals and familiarity with the methods in molecular biology, protein chemistry, and cell biology or immunology.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: M.D., Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D
Work Experience: 3+ years of postdoctoral research experience.
Skills:
Well-honed interpersonal capacities and passionate about gainful collaboration.
Excellent communication skills.

Inspecting authoritative publications to discern understudied topics.
Crafting and proposing novel, scientifically rigorous research ideas.
Co-steering joint research undertakings.
Spearheading data collection and concomitant interpretation.
Promoting beneficence and minimizing risks.
Conducting in-house and national research presentations.
Publishing your findings in pertinent highly regarded peer-reviewed journals.
Helping principal investigator to secure sufficient pertinent funding to support the research programs.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
