Description of Work Unit
Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. The NREL is a research and teaching unit at Colorado State University with a mission “to ensure the sustainability of the Earth’s ecosystems through the generation and application of new knowledge.” The department’s interdisciplinary, ecosystem research promotes collaborations among disciplines and across fields of expertise at CSU and throughout the world. As a soft-money research unit, this role is critical to ensure adequate funding to sustain its vital role in the research community both locally and across the globe.
Position Summary
Statistical analyst supports projects with a variety of data and model analyses associated with estimation of greenhouse gas emissions and related biogeochemical modeling. The statistical analyst will manage small to large datasets, conduct analyses with methods such as but not limited to Bayesian and frequentist statistical methods, apply quality control measures and evaluate results, and prepare reporting materials and visualizations for review and publication.
Required Job Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Statistics or related field
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Expertise with Machine Learning methods
  • Expertise with Bayesian statistical methods
  • Expertise with Frequentist statistical methods
  • Experience with R
  • Experience managing data in relational and geospatial databases
  • Experience with data visualization
  • Experience analyzing agricultural data and/or estimation of greenhouse gas emissions
