This position is a one-year, full-time appointment (five days per week) conducting research on plant genetics, molecular genetics, and potato breeding. The appointment is split 50:50 between the School of Food & Agriculture and the School of Biology & Ecology. Continuation beyond the initial one-year appointment is contingent on funding and job performance. Hiring salary for this one-year fixed-length position is $38,701 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required:
- Typically has the education associated with an M.S. degree in a plant science field or other related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with quantitative genetics, statistical analyses, DNA extraction from plant tissues, use of PCR-based markers, and quantitative fluorescent-based PCR methodologies.
- Experience in growing plants in the field and greenhouse, applied plant breeding techniques, aseptic techniques, potato calli transformation, and general plant tissue culture.
- Valid Maine driver’s license and be eligible to be authorized and approved as a university driver based on the Driver Administration Policy.
