Job Description Summary | The search will remain open until the position has been filled. First consideration will be given to applications received by May 22, 2024. Applications received after May 22, 2024, may be reviewed depending on search progress and needs, but are not guaranteed full consideration. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ BASIC FUNCTION: Design and develop reporting and analytics for a wide variety of internal and external constituents, including required state and federal reports (e.g., IPEDS, Common Data Set, guidebooks). Encourage a culture of evidenced-based decision making by increasing data access and literacy. |
Duties and Responsibilities | ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Identify and anticipate data and information reporting needs of the University’s schools, colleges, departments, and senior administrators. Generate and maintain standard data reports and coordinate and complete prompt responses to external data requests (e.g., US News and World Report, Princeton Review, etc.) Aid with the coordination of data collection and reporting for the federally mandated submissions to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). Collaborate with Enrollment Services staff to provide bench marking, analysis, and modeling assistance in support of institutional student success efforts. Provide consultation and expertise to institutional offices and departments regarding research method and design and analyses. Propose and implement new analytical tools and technologies (data mining, data visualization, statistical modeling) where appropriate. Identify, capture, scrub, and synthesize data from established and novel sources at the institutional, regional, and national level to support both day-to-day decision-making and long-term planning. Ensure data integrity and reconcile data discrepancies in cooperation with units throughout the university. Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses and/or conferences. Lead periodic departmental technical trainings as new software and approaches become available. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform other duties as assigned. LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT: Personal computers and printers; word processing, spreadsheet, and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, Stata, R, Minitab.) |
Required Qualifications | REQUIRED: 1. Bachelor’s Degree. 2. Minimum of one year of experience with statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS, Stata, R, Minitab, etc.) 3. Demonstrated familiarity with data visualization software and techniques. 4. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills. 5. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills. 6. Demonstrated organizational skills. 7. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations. |
Preferred Qualifications | PREFERRED: 1. Master’s degree in Social Science, Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related field. 2. Demonstrated experience working with higher education student data and federal reporting (e.g. IPEDS). 3. Demonstrated experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, MicroStrategy etc.) 4. Demonstrated familiarity with student information systems (e.g. PeopleSoft). 5. Demonstrated familiarity with database management software and SQL. 6.
