Occupational Summary

Perform a variety of technical duties involved in conducting standardized tests, experiments and determinations in support of research oriented activities at Duke University under the supervision of Prof Andrew Jones.  The Jones Systems for Engaging the Environment Lab (SEEL) recently relocated to Duke University from Northeastern University. SEEL is focused on solving global challenges in water and health using engineering and policy analysis. This includes a strong focus on understanding how single and multispecies bacterial biofilms develop and respond to externally applied stressors. This is done by applying existing and new tools for analysis under real-world and simulated situations so that useful transport relations can be developed. This also includes the development of novel engineering and policy systems to improve equitable distribution and storage of potable water.  Ideal candidates can come from a variety of backgrounds, including but not limited to product design, tissue/organ culture, fluid dynamics, or microbiology. Ideal candidates should possess a strong desire to contribute to the lab in its formation as it is brand new: equipment is being ordered, people are being hired, projects are being crafted. There is potential for leadership, growth, and a lot more.
