What We Want

The Research Assistant will be responsible for overseeing main lab operations, assisting with animal care, reagent preparation, and assisting in training of students. In addition, this position will execute experiments to obtain data for grant submissions and papers. What You Need to Know

Starting Salary: $13.50 per hour

Required Education and Experience:

  • Appropriate bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of cell culture techniques

  • Knowledge of rodent husbandry and handling

  • Cryostat work expertise

  • Knowledge of rodent brain tissue dissection

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's in Biology or related area

  • Experience with rodent models, cell culture, cryostat and histology

Responsibilities:

  • Research Experiments: Executing experiments and analyzing data.

  • Lab Duties: General lab duties, purchasing, autoclave, animal maintenance

  • Documentation: Maintaining an accurate laboratory notebook, writing manuscripts, contributing to grant proposal, presenting findings.

  • Training: Training new personnel on lab procedures and performs other duties as assigned.
