Pay Range Information
Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.

Position Summary Information


Job Description Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the PI, the research assistant will provide general research and project support at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Brain and Behavioral Sciences at Chapman University. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing various research activities; data entry; conducting literature reviews and compiling findings; designing experiments; maintaining project-related documentation and records; assisting with participant recruitment, training, and behavioral assessments; gathering EEG, eye tracking, and other neural and behavioral data; analyzing data; writing up presentations, and manuscripts. Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
  • Independently performing various research activities.
  • Conducting literature reviews and compiling findings.
  • Designing and coding experiments using Python/PsychoPy.
  • Maintaining project-related documentation and records.
  • Assisting with participant recruitment, training, and behavioral assessments.
  • Gathering and analyzing EEG, eye tracking, and other neural and behavioral data.
  • Writing up presentations and manuscripts.
  • Participant recruitment and consenting.
  • Assist PI’s with IRB applications and documents.
  • Oversee independent study students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Background and experience in cognitive science, psychology, or related fields.
  • Two years of prior research experience, including knowledge of research methods and terminology.
  • Demonstrated experience in programming languages such as Python, Matlab, or JavaScript.
  • Demonstrated experience in data collection and data entry.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills: define problems by performing research and fact-finding.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge of Excel. Experience working with Qualtrics, Prolific, Mechanical Turk, or similar survey software.
  • Willingness to work as a supportive, cooperative member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work independently.

Desired Qualifications
Experience in a psychology or cognitive or neuroscience lab or similar lab using EEG equipment and PsychoPy software.
