Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | The University of South Carolina, College of Nursing (CON) is seeking a qualified candidate eligible for the rank of Research Assistant Professor. A Research Assistant Professor is expected to function as an advanced post-doctoral fellow in building their publication record and submits grant applications (national funding). The protected time for these activities and deliverables for this 2 year-appointment will increase the likelihood of the incumbent to be successful in their first term in the tenure-track (Assistant Professor). The Research Assistant Professor will work closely with an assigned Research Mentor. In addition, the incumbent will have the opportunities to find research collaborators within the larger University and build a research team. A key milestone to be achieved before transfer to the tenure-track is the submission as Principal Investigator of a federal grant (e.g., K-level, R03, R21) that has been scored in the fundable range or a Principal Investigator of a federally funded sub-award. The incumbent will be encouraged to guest lecture during the first year and shadow a faculty member teaching a course in the second year so as to prepare for the teaching roles that are integral to the tenure-track. |

Required Education and Experience | Earned doctorate in nursing (PhD or DNP), two years of teaching and mentoring of BSN andMSN students preferred; unencumbered nursing licensure; Excellent written and oral communication skills, team building, self-motivation, and innovation in educational program offerings are expected. Basic Life Support (BLS) documentation is required.Candidates are expected to have a beginning research program. |
