Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
Under collaboration with the PI and other PIs on the project, this individual will conduct both independent research and under guided collaboration with the other project co-PIs in reactor design and building in addition to catalysis. The duties of this position are to (1) perform scholarly and collaborative research with department faculty and with outside collaborators engaged in areas of mutual interest in areas of preparation, characterization, and evaluation of novel catalysts and EM reactors; (2) oversee the management and direction of certain research programs including supervising student, interacting with funding agencies and/or outside companies, and leading research group meetings; (3) prepare technical reports and proposal, write manuscript for publication in professional journals, and give presentations at meetings and conference; and (4) manage research laboratory activity, equipment and inventory with procurement of research supplies, and assist other scholar and collaborators in their research activities. The individual will be funded by the IEDO MW/RF Light Olefins project with The DOE.
Required Education and Experience
PhD in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field with 3+ years of expertise in catalysis research.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Heterogeneous catalyst synthesis by various methods, characterization by XRD, STEM, XPS, chemisorption and other methods, and evaluations in flow and batch reactors. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.
