The Department of Neural and Pain Sciences (https://www.dental.umaryland.edu/neuralpain/ ) at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore is seeking a highly qualified fulltime educator at the rank of Research Assistant Professor (non-tenure).

The primary focus of this position will be Course Director and the main didactic/dissection laboratory Instructor for the first year Dental Student Gross Anatomy course within the DDS program. There will be additional teaching requirements in Pharmacology, Dental Hygiene, and Postgraduate Head and Neck Anatomy didactics. The position requires demonstration of at least five years teaching and laboratory instruction experience, with at least one year within the Dental setting preferred, and with course direction experience. As a faculty member, committee service will also be required. In addition to teaching, the position requires active contribution to the research focus of the department. This includes preclinical (rats and mice) research experience studying mechanisms of Orofacial Pains and their comorbidities, particularly GI related disorders. Experience with animal models of comorbid pain, behavioral pain assays, and tissue dissection is required. Experience mentoring graduate students is also essential.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate MUST have a PhD, MD, DDS or equivalent in Anatomy with significant teaching experience.
