The College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology, is recruiting for a full-time, research assistant, in the laboratory of Leukemia and Drug Development Laboratory (LDDL), to help conduct research in the area of hematology.  Encompasses individuals at all degrees and have a high level of competency in research but may not have an independent research program.

The LDDL is in the CARE/Crawley building on University of Cincinnati’s East Campus. We are a diverse team focused on studying the etiology, pathogenesis, treatment, and cure of hematological malignancies.

• Contribute to collective team effort.
• Document and organize research results and data according to NIH’s preferred good laboratory management practices (LabArchives).
• Assist with the coordination of research studies in hematology.
• Make independent contributions to projects and studies based on evidence-based literature. 
• Independently works on projects and troubleshoot problems. 
• Perform statistical and graphical analysis of data, interpretation of data, and validity of testing. 
• Maintain timely project goals, deadlines, and studies for contributions to publications and grant funding applications. 
• Apply scientific skills and knowledge to demonstrate technical capabilities of single cell platforms.
• Analyze and communicate results and data analysis from high throughput sequencing platforms. 
• Share responsibility with other lab members for lab maintenance including possible ordering and stocking of laboratory supplies and maintenance of lab inventory.
• Molecular biology techniques desired:
  • General cell culture techniques
  • Tissue culture and related wet lab techniques (i.e. western blotting, functional assays).
  • Flow cytometry
  • Animal tissues handling
  • Preparation of novel therapeutics for in vivo studies
  • Optimize and perform in vitro immune assays
  • Basic handling of DNA and RNA techniques including sample isolation, PCR, and preparation of samples for sequencing.
  • Gene editing of cell lines and primary cells with CRISPR-Cas9 or viral vectors.

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

• Master’s degree in a clinical or scientific discipline is highly desirable.
• Prior research experience in a laboratory setting is highly recommended.
• Two years+ of in-depth knowledge of translational research laboratory practices.
• Experience with specialized software (i.e. Microsoft Suite, Labarchives, GraphPad Prism, Endnote).
