Job Summary
The Developmental Neurolinguists Lab (http://bbs.utdallas.edu/brainlab/ ) at University of Texas at Dallas’s Callier Center for Communication Disorders, directed by Dr. Mandy Maguire, is seeking a full-time Research Assistant to work on a NSF funded project that investigates the impact of poverty on brain and language development. This is an exciting opportunity for recent college graduates interested in language development, cognitive neuroscience and/or the implications of poverty on cognition.
This is an ideal job for someone who is interested in continuing to a PhD or MD as, if justified, there will be opportunities for authorship on conference papers and journal articles.
The position is full-time with benefits with at least a 2-year commitment.
This Research Assistant I will provide technical assistant for various research projects and conducts research activities according to research protocol.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in one of the basic sciences or an equivalent combination of education and experience in customer service or in daily interactions in a public services environment.

Preferred Education and Experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or related field
  • One or more year(s) of research experience
  • The ability to read, write, and speak Spanish proficiently is highly preferred
  • Experience with EEG data collection, preferably using Neuroscan software
  • Strong statistical skills
  • Experience with Matlab and EEGLab or programming experience
  • The successful candidate will have outstanding organizational and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Proven reliability and attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently and oversee the work of others.

  • Acquisition of EEG data from children and adults
  • Basic EEG and behavioral data analysis

Work will be perform on site and in-person.
Because the team studies school-aged children, this job requires weekend and evening hours during the school year.
