Position Description
The Goodrich Laboratory (goodrich.med.harvard.edu) in the Department of Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School is looking for an independent, flexible, and motivated Research Assistant who seeks to directly contribute to projects investigating the neural circuits underlying the sense of hearing. Working under the supervision of two postdoctoral fellows, this individual will perform a variety of experimental and research support tasks, including:
The Research Assistant will be responsible for accurately recording experimental details and communicating effectively about work progress. They will attend weekly lab meetings as well as regularly scheduled departmental and group lab meetings.
Basic Qualifications
College background and one year of related work experience (relevant course work may count toward some, but not all, required work experience).
Additional Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated abilities in relevant laboratory techniques with one or more years of experience in the stated techniques preferred, though prior familiarity with the auditory system is not required.
- A successful candidate will be eager to learn, responsible, focused, well-organized, detail-oriented, able to work semi-independently, and multi-task efficiently.
- Additionally, to work successfully with two supervisors, a successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills and be comfortable balancing multiple responsibilities.
- The candidate will work with mice.
Additional Information
This is a 12-month term appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent on funding.
Offer contingent upon successful completion of a pre-placement medical evaluation.
