Essential Functions

One Research Assistant (RA) is sought to support a research study on carceral conditions and culture. 6 months, renewable, beginning 5/1/2024. This position is supported fully by external funds; therefore, the continuation of employment is contingent on receipt of those external funds.

Essential Functions

  • Assisting in management of study records, both paper and electronic.
  • Participating in survey administration, including inside of a custodial environment.
  • Data coding and management.
  • Adhering to codes of conduct for research, university activities and correctional institutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Criminology/Criminal Justice or a related discipline
  • Regional travel is required, with incurred travel expenses reimbursed.
  • The successful candidate will need to complete trainings for Human Subjects Research in the social sciences required by Drexel University.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with primary data collection, particularly with young adult populations and with conducting confidential semi-structured interviews, is beneficial.
  • Training or direct experience with qualitative and/or quantitative data collection
  • Comfort with conducting engaged research with carceral populations, members of vulnerable populations, and agent leadership.
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail.

Additional Information 

This is a Part Time Temporary  position classified as Non Exempt.  The offered pay is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
