JOB SUMMARY

The Movement for Life Lab within the Doctor of Physical Therapy program is seeking a part-time (20 hours per week) Research Assistant 1 to coordinate and manage the operations of several research projects and student research assistants. This position will report to the Principal Investigator, Dr. Colón-Semenza, at the Movement for Life Lab based in the Kinesiology building on the Storrs campus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Include but are not limited to:

  • Organize and manage daily operations.
  • Order and maintain lab equipment and supply inventory.
  • Event planning and implementation.
  • Maintain accurate records of meetings and events.
  • Scheduling (lab meetings, lab events, research participant appointments).
  • Manage lab communications (phone, email, website, social media platforms).
  • Provide general support for the lab's operations.
  • Research related tasks.
  • Assist with recruitment and management of research participants.
  • Data entry and data collection.
  • Assist experiment procedures.
  • Oversee student researchers.
  • Assist with other projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree. 
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle conflicting priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience working well as part of a team.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.A. or B.S. in a health-related field.
  • Bilingual in Spanish (written and spoken).
  • A degree in exercise science, allied health, or related fields.
  • Experience working with older adults.
  • Experience managing a laboratory.
  • Experience working in a clinical setting.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Microsoft Office/Teams proficiency.
  • Experience with RedCAP.
  • Experience with content creation (e.g., Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Canva).
  • APPOINTMENT TERMS

    This is a part-time, temporary position for an initial period through 6/30/24, with the possibility of extension dependent upon program needs and available funding. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Applications will be reviewed immediately and the position will be filled as soon as possible. With the expectation to travel on-site as needed, remote work modalities may be considered in accordance with the University's Alternate Work Arrangements policy and authorization.
