Position Description:
The Center for the Transformation of Schools (CTS) at UCLA's School of Education and Information Studies (Ed&IS) is dedicated to partnering with the education ecosystem to bring about systems change through Humanizing Research, Validating Practices, and Transformative Policies with key stakeholders to support equitable educational outcomes for historically underserved students. Our vision is to be a catalyst for learning communities to boldly nurture and protect the dignity, wellbeing, and full potential of all students.
Under the general direction of the Project Director, CTEP (Computational Thinking and Equity Project), Research Director, Executive Director of Research Administration, and Faculty Directors, the Research Analyst will play a significant role in carrying out mixed methods research projects related to the National Science Foundation, assist Project Directors in developing and facilitating the design and structure of a collaborative computational thinking pathways model that will be utilized by educators and school's system leaders across Los Angeles. The project will support an iterative Research Practice Partnership (RPP) design process that will include convening monthly research meetings involving students, educators, administrators, nonprofit partners, and Los Angeles Unified School District. The Research Analyst will focus on disparities in school discipline, achievement, graduation rates, and other prioritizing work in California, but including other states and federal level programs. The Research Analyst will be deeply involved in the design, organization, management, and analysis of quantitative data in order to examine patterns of disparities in education, discipline, and access to educational supports or resources along a broad set of demographic and economic quantitative and qualitative data sources. The Research Analyst will participate in the educator pipeline, collaborative research, report writing, and dissemination, including public presentations of research findings and assistance with strategy development for policy change work in California among all the CTS research projects. The incumbent may be asked to assist with other CTS projects as needed. This position will be based at the Center for the Transformation of Schools at UCLA. Some travel to conduct field work and to attend conferences/meetings will be required.
Special Instructions:
The budgeted hiring salary/target range for this position is the posted minimum to $6,567 monthly, with salary placement based on skills, knowledge, and experience.
