Position Summary

The Research Analyst is responsible for supporting data analysis and reporting functions of the Office of Planning, Research, and Institutional Assessment (PRIA). The position will work closely with CEWD to determine reporting metrics, data structure, and data retrievals for non-credit program data. The Research Analyst coordinates data gathering, completes external reporting mandates, and conduct trend analysis related to noncredit programs. The position will play a key role in incorporating CEWD data into institutional story telling.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Retrieve and analyze relevant data from a variety of data sources using Informer and other SQL based query tools. Prepare and complete federal and state data reporting requirements for noncredit programs, such as MSDE Perkins, CTE report, MHEC WIOA report, MHEC ESOL-FTES report, MHEC NWCS report, etc.
Conduct trend analysis on enrollment, demographics, courses, and other key data elements of noncredit programs. Respond to ad hoc data requests as needed. Support the enhancement and implementation of innovative open enrollment and contract training courses and programs. Coordinate the gathering and verifying noncredit data including the development of complex database queries related to reporting and analyses.
Retrieve and maintain relevant data sources for developing and maintaining Tableau CEWD dashboards. Review and validate data submissions and other official reports for accuracy and consistency, and verify institutional data including developing reliable methods to incorporate CEWD data into the college's enrollment census reporting and analyses.
Document and serve as a resource person for non-credit data definitions. Support the College's data governance initiatives, including participating in Maryland Community College Research Group (MCCRG) working groups, serving on the College's Data Integrity Group (DIG), compiling non-credit data dictionary, and helping stakeholders better understand noncredit on campus.
Assist with the development of web-based reports, research briefs, and infographics that could tell the story of CEWD.
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the AVP.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher
Minimum of five years of relevant work experience, with higher education experience preferred.
Ability to gather, compile, and analyze research data in a variety of formats. Experience working with large data sets required, including building queries as well as creating and merging reports from multiple systems.
Strong computer skills, including considerable experience with statistical analysis software such as SPSS and SAS, are required.
Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex analysis to a non-technical audience. Experience in developing and making presentations.
Strong problem-solving skills with ability to: respond to information requests quickly and on short notice; work effectively, both independently and within a team environment; work in a fast-paced environment with attention to details and deadlines; and maintain state-of-the-art technical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree with training or experience in statistics, research methodology, or predictive analytics.
Experience with visualization software such as Tableau
Experience working in an integrated relational database environment.
Experience gathering workforce and occupation market data from public and private sources, such as the US Bureau of Labor Statistics or Emsi Analyst.
