The School of Public Health is looking for a research administrator to join the Dean's Research Office. We are looking for a positive and forward-thinking individual with experience with and knowledge of pre- and post-award research administration. Reporting to SPH's Director of Research Administration, you will create resources and programming to help develop new and junior research administrators across the school and work with the Director to improve school-wide research administration and development programs. SPH is looking for an experienced and dynamic staff member committed to contributing to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for all members of our community.
 

This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule. 
 

This position offers a $1,500 signing bonus.

  • Develop SPH-specific onboarding materials for research administrators.
  • Mentor new and junior research administrators within the School of Public Health.
  • Co-lead research administration-related communities of practice within our school.
  • Create and maintain research administration resources within the school (internal website, templates, best practices, procedures).
  • Provide as-needed input and support to staff and faculty inquiries and concerns.
  • Help coordinate complex proposal development for school-wide projects.
  • Help develop programming to support research enterprise our faculty and staff.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP), Sponsored Programs, and other UM central offices and units.
  • Work with multiple levels of staff, management, and faculty toTrack school-wide compliance and reporting matters.
  • Produce school-level reporting related to research performance metrics.
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of seven years relevant experience, or an equivalent mix of academic achievement and professional experience.
  • Knowledge of sponsor guidelines. Prior experience with HHS/NIH funding.
  • Possess an understanding of Higher Education settings and administrative processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of and experience with complex proposal elements including NIH caps, cost sharing, and subcontract and/or sub-project distribution and allocation. 
  • Retain accountability for workload; demonstrate flexibility in the face of change. Identify issues, investigate, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Experience coordinating large program proposal submissions.
  • Willing to participate in research administrative service and professional development within and beyond the school.
