Job Summary

As an integral member of the research administration team, the incumbent supports the Director of Research Administration (DRA) in overseeing post-award research activities for the School's Principal Investigators (PIs). This role necessitates a comprehensive understanding and interpretation of award contracts and agreements to ensure compliance and provide guidance to PIs. The primary objective is to maintain adherence to regulatory frameworks while facilitating efficient and effective research expenditure management.

Essential Functions

  • Assist Principal Investigators in ensuring timely award setup and accurate budget allocation within WebFinance.
  • Regularly assist PIs in budget forecasting to facilitate timely planning and make sure the award is not overspent.
  • Coordinate labor distributions in alignment with award budgets, overseeing quarterly effort report certification alongside the DRA, initiating the student and research staff appointments, as well as Faculty academic year (AY) salaries and/or summer research compensation.
  • Initiate and oversee the submission of purchase requisitions via SmartSource, managing subsequent follow-ups on purchase orders and invoice payments, and offering assistance to PIs, research staff, and students in travel arrangements through Concur.
  • Provide guidance to PIs on submission of subcontracts, and independent contractor and vendor agreements under the direction of the DRA.
  • Scrutinize award expenditures to ensure compliance with allowable transactions, project timelines, budgetary constraints, and submission of journal workflows for rectification of any errors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience is financial or business management.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred knowledge of systems: Hyperion, WebFinance.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Ability to work in teams.

Additional Information

This position is classified as exempt, grade L. Compensation for this grade ranges from $ 62,630.00 to $ 93,950.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
