Position Responsibilities


Position Summary
The Department of Psychology and Communication in the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Idaho invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant or associate professor in psychology or related discipline. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research includes expertise in modeling, broadly defined. Candidates whose research dovetails with the University’s strategic goals in the areas of health, science and technology are strongly encouraged to apply.
Area of expertise may be unique but may also complement existing areas of expertise within the department. Candidate must be able to teach courses serving the psychology majors at the undergraduate level. Candidates are expected to show a strong potential for excellence in research and should have a Ph.D. in psychology or related discipline by the date of appointment.
This position is part of a cluster hire to build on our strength in mathematical, statistical, and computational modeling. The successful candidates will have an opportunity affiliate with the Institute for Modeling Collaboration and Innovation (IMCI). IMCI is funded in part by a grant from the National Institutes of Health and serves as the epicenter for a vibrant research community focused on bringing modeling to collaborative research. Interdisciplinary research is enhanced by regular interactions among researchers with diverse expertise. Projects are formalized as IMCI Working Groups, which include faculty, research staff, postdocs, and graduate and undergraduate students, usually from multiple disciplines. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to join existing groups or form new groups aligned with their research interests.

Qualifications


Minimum Education/Degree Required Listed degree qualification is required at time of hire.
Required Qualifications
  • PhD in Psychology or related discipline
  • Experience teaching courses at the undergraduate level;
  • Experience with independently conducting and publishing research.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching courses and mentoring at the graduate level;
  • Experience seeking external funding for research;
  • Emerging or established line of research comprising modeling, broadly defined.
