The Opportunity

The Registrar Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting academic records, compliance, course planning, course enrollment, and grade reporting across Bowers CIS's three departments: computer science, information science, and statistics and data science. Reporting to the Deputy Registrar, this role also provides operational and administrative support to ensure the smooth functioning of registrar office operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining accurate academic records for students across all departments within Bowers CIS.
  • Support compliance efforts related to academic policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to university and college regulations.
  • Assist with course planning and scheduling, working closely with departmental administrators and faculty members.
  • Facilitate the course enrollment process for students, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Assist with grade reporting and transcript management, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in recordkeeping.
  • Provide operational and administrative support to the Deputy Registrar, including managing correspondence, scheduling meetings, and maintaining office files and records.

This is a full-time, 3-year term (39 hours/week) endowed position that is based in Ithaca, NY. This position follows a 3:2 campus-to-home hybrid work arrangment that is subject to change at any time. Typical work hours are 8am-4:30pm Monday through Friday with the flexibility to work occasional evening and/or weekend events, most notably on Friday and Saturday of Memorial Day weekend to support Bowers CIS and University Commencement activities.

What We Need

We are looking for a team member who is customer-service oriented, detail oriented, and highly proficient at MS Excel. Additionally, you will: 

  • Hold an Associate’s degree and four to six years’ relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Have experience in—and/or demonstrated commitment to—supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Serve as an advocate for individuals of all ethnicities, genders, ages, and backgrounds.
  • Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Have a service-and-solution-oriented mindset with a passion for operational improvement.
  • Be open to learning new technology and systems.
  • Have strong technical skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
  • Have outstanding communication skills, especially the ability to prepare clear, concise, and error-free written communications.
  • Utilize sound professional judgment and exercise a high degree of discretion in dealing with confidential information in accordance with university policies and federal regulations (FERPA).

  • Bachelor’s degree and two or more years' experience in a registrar’s office.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, 25Live, OLGAA, ACALOG, and/or CCI.
  • Familiarity with Cornell university policies and procedures.
