Job Summary
Guided by the policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services Administration, and in collaboration with
providers and other clinical staff, the Clinical Nurse II is responsible for providing safe, efficient nursing care
to patients in an out-patient, primary care practice. Triages patients and responds appropriately according to
protocol and nursing assessment. The Clinical Nurse II utilizes the nursing process (Assessment, Planning,
Implementation and Evaluation) to provide safe and therapeutic clinical care. The Clinical Nurse II also
provides clinical support to providers and participates as part of the health care team to assure coordination
and continuity of patient care. The Clinical Nurse II is responsible for triage on behalf of the practice both in
person and through telephone and electronic communication. The Clinical Nurse II participates in the development and implementation of educational programs and materials for patients and their family members. They deliver
direct patient care to a variety of patient populations. All components of nursing care will be individualized to
meet the patient’s physiological and psychosocial development. The Clinical Nurse II will play a critical role
in the patient experience including optimizing clinic flow, providing in and outreach to patients and working
collaboratively with the team to create a patient centered environment. They participate in Performance
Improvement (PI) activities.
The Clinical Nurse II is required to learn and apply the Patient Centered Medical Home
Standards and to maintain a safe environment for patients. The Clinical Nurse II consistently projects a
professional and courteous demeanor, helps establish and maintain the highest service standards for the
practice and complies with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards. This employee will utilize
computer skills in APeX and other UCSF computerized programs. This individual supports the standards of
the policies and procedures of the practice and is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of
pharmacology and competency in modes of administration, and complies with all Ambulatory Services and
Medical Center policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and administrative and clinical practice.
They are required to adhere to UCSF’s PRIDE values and the AIDET fundamentals of communication in all
patient care and stakeholder interactions.

Please note: An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical RN experience in an ambulatory setting within the last 5 years
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
- Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent Experience in the use of Electronic Medical Record documentation
- 1-2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an Ambulatory Practice Experience in ambulatory setting – Adults and Geriatrics preferred.
- Ability to work competently and efficiently with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel & Work
- Bilingual: Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, or Russian
License/Certification
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
- Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
