Job Summary
The College of Nursing, is seeking applications for a Registered Nurse. The position location will be split between ETSU’s University Health Center and the Johnson City Community Health Center.
This position is responsible to the Clinical Director for:
  • evaluating and treating patient health complaints following nursing protocols;
  • ensuring the scientific application of the principles of nursing science, patient safety, and patient teaching;
  • utilizing nursing skills in health promotion, disease prevention, and restoration of health; and
  • performing other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to operate equipment including computer, autoclave, centrifuge, microscope, cash register, blood pressure units, otoscope, ophthalmoscope, electric thermometers, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with university personnel at various levels, students, parents, representatives of the community, and the medical community.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of patient records.
  • Ability to keep records and reports.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job across various settings in the classroom, simulation, clinical, and/or community as required and/or needed. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to position self and balance. The employee must occasionally move (including lift, carry, push, and pull) up to 100 pounds or more. The employee must be able to perceive and respond to sounds and alarms; communicate effectively with others; be able to observe and monitor situations and details at close range in full and dimmed light. The employee may be required to move and/or stay in a stationary position in various settings for up to 12 hours at a time in addition to the preparation and closure of a clinical shift. Rapid mobility may also be required on occasion. Physical expectations of an assigned clinical facility may vary and be subject to change.
Stress levels may be high due to frequently dealing with numerous students, patients, family members, and other healthcare providers. This position demands concentration and the ability to work in emotionally charged situations.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Tennessee or Compact State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of nursing experience.
  • Experience in ambulatory care.
Salary $47,135
