Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

Department Description

The Intensive Cardiac Care (ICC) unit provides comprehensive hospital care for adults who are critically ill. Patients in this 26-bed unit are primarily treated for cardiac disorders, pulmonary hypertension, advanced heart failure, advanced lung disease, heart and lung transplant, cardiothoracic (heart-chest) surgery, or vascular (blood vessel) surgery.

Therapies provided in the ICC include vasoactive drug administration, ventilator support, thrombolytic therapy, IABP, Impella, VAD and ECLS support, dysrhythmia intervention, prostacyclin therapy, CRRT and dialysis. Monitoring includes continuous cardiac output, pulmonary artery and arterial lines, pulse oximetry, ST segment, electrocardiograms and capnography.

Clinical research is supported by data collection at the bedside by both unit nurses and the investigators.


Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of three(3) years recent RN work experience, with a minimum of two (2) of those years in an adult intensive cardiac care unit (coronary care, cardiovascular or cardiothoracic intensive care)
  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Active American Heart Association ACLS Certification
  • The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations
