Job Summary/Basic Function
The Regional Program Assistant, Northeast will report to the Regional Extension Associate, Northeast with primary responsibility of tasks associated with the regional Extension Office. The key role of the this position is to provide the Regional Extension Associate and Regional Educators with programming assistance, which includes helping in developing Extension programs, participating in extension workshops, extension demonstrations, helping in program recruitment efforts, and other Extension-related assistance, as directed by the Regional Associate. This position requires close attention to detail, the ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, and a readiness to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people. Travel within the Extension Regions and among the Extension Regions might be required.
This position will report to work at the Northeast Regional Extension Office: 400 Third St. SE, Suite 300, Canton, OH 44702.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist Extension programming by helping to develop and implement programs
• Assist in various means of program evaluations and documenting program impacts.
• Keeping track of all regional events and programming calendar.
• Coordinate the use of conference/classroom/meeting rooms and vehicles for assigned program areas
• Assist in the preparation of program activities and other program materials
• Maintain and manage inventory of office supplies, vehicles, and equipment for assigned program areas
• Facilitate communications, meetings and travel with regional staff, community leaders, advisory committee, other institutions, and agencies.
• Submit daily programmatic activities and success stories
• Work collaboratively with public and private schools, universities, nonprofits, and colleges, state and local agencies within assigned region.
• Assist with Extension programming activities and extension demonstrations
• Coordinate the communication and flow of information between the campus internally, the county offices, and other organizations
• Coordinate and/or assist with special events, camps, advisory meetings etc.
• Other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
• An earned bachelor’s degree.
• Knowledge and experience in handling files and data.
• Knowledge of Land-Grant universities and Extension services.
• Demonstrated skills in the use of computers, including internet, word processing, graphic design, spreadsheets and database management programs.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
• Ability to prioritize and to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner.
Preferred Qualifications
• At least 4 years of field experience in program development
• Knowledge and experience with business operations, agriculture, specialty crop production, animal husbandry, finance, and/or project management.
