Position Summary
The receptionist serves as the first point of contact for the Kenan-Flagler Business School Dean’s Suite. This position greets all visitors to the Dean’s Suite, answers the main phone line, and directs visitors/calls as appropriate. The receptionist provides front-line customer support, gives routine information to visitors, and triages more complex issues with appropriate staff or administrators within the School. In addition to managing the reception desk, this position provides a wide range of administrative functions, including ordering supplies, reserving rooms and resources, delivering mail, and managing service permit(s). The receptionist is the primary liaison for the Dean’s Suite to the KFBS Facilities team, and works closely with them to ensure that routine maintenance, health and safety problems in the department are properly addressed.
In addition to reception duties, this position is expected to provide secondary support for the Dean and Senior Associate Deans with calendaring, travel, reimbursements, and correspondence. Due to the nature of this position, it is 100% in-office and not eligible for remote work or a hybrid schedule.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Attention to detail and the ability to multitask;
- Proficiency in standard office technology and software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Experience working in a University or higher education setting preferred;
- Experience providing administrative support for executive-level managers or University administrators preferred.
