Works as a member of the Catalog Management Unit. Performs an integrated set of tasks to order, receive, and catalog materials from international vendors, including, but not limited to, monographic materials in all formats and print serials, primarily in Spanish and Portuguese languages. Prepares and receives shipments of materials sent off-site for outsourced cataloging. Catalogs materials in English or other languages as needed. Participates in special cataloging projects. Coordinates activities with other unit members, other Technical Services units, area studies and liaison librarians, public and access services personnel, and, as needed, academic faculty or students.

Job Summary

Facilitates the digital library collection, approves collection expansion requests, and verifies the accuracy of all library records. Oversees student workers and performs certain human resource actions. Resolves digital library collection issues.


Essential Functions 

Searching electronic databases; creating and editing online records.


Physical Effort 

Viewing a computer monitor; using a computer keyboard and mouse to input data for extended periods of time daily; affixing barcodes and using a barcode scanner; lifting, carrying, and handling books individually or packed in boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.; loading library materials onto book trucks and transporting the trucks between rooms or by elevator between floors.

Additional details about Required Licensure/Certification Must possess solid working knowledge of Spanish. Good English language communication skills required. Good communication, organizational, and time management skills essential. Experience with internet browsers, word processing, spreadsheets, and communication and collaboration tools, preferably in a Windows environment, required. Reading knowledge of Portuguese is desirable. Experience with a library management system is desirable. Experience with a national bibliographic database is desirable.
Work Schedule Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Work Arrangement On-Campus: Teams that work on campus, in an office, or in a lab.
Hiring Range $34,593.00 - $43,231.00
