The Office of Assessment and Accreditation ensures the quality of an NC State education for all undergraduate and graduate students. Our guidance of the assessment process creates accountability for the achievement of goals for all units at NC State, including learning outcomes for each academic program.
Through our work, we’re building a systematic culture of assessment that demonstrates our academic strength and progress to accrediting agencies. Mission
The Office of Assessment and Accreditation supports the facilitation of campuswide assessment and accreditation processes. OAA leads the academic and administrative outcomes assessment processes, and works collaboratively with university stakeholders to coordinate comprehensive external program review. OAA is responsible for leading data collection and reporting for accreditation as well as facilitating the substantive change process for the institution.
OAA guides these efforts in congruence with NC State’s expectations for continuous improvement and excellence as well as with standards for compliance with specialized accreditors and our institutional accrediting body, SACSCOC.

OAA will provide leadership and guidance in assessment and accreditation efforts to support innovative and strategic data-informed decision-making for institutional excellence.
Essential Job Duties
The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is a university-wide, five-year student learning and student success initiative that reflects and affirms NC State’s commitment to enhancing overall institutional quality. Campus-wide collaborators developed our QEP (2024-29) “Packways: Learning By Doing.” Packways provides a coordinated means of informing and involving more students in success opportunities we call high impact experiences (HIEs – e.g. student employment, internships and entrepreneurship, service learning, undergraduate research, global engagement). Participation in HIEs has a proven impact on students’ critical thinking, career readiness, rate of engagement and self-actualization. Packways also brings together a community of practice that focuses on HIEs that prepare NC State students to serve North Carolina, the nation and the world.
The QEP Director at NC State will collaboratively direct all aspects of the QEP, including communication, implementation, monitoring, assessing and reporting. The Director position will work closely with various campus constituents including the Associate Dean and Executive Director, Academic Enrichment Programs, University College, Division of Academic and Student Affairs, and report to the Vice Provost for Assessment and Accreditation.
Primary responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate the QEP Implementation subcommittees (Campus Communication, Student Communication, Professional Development, Assessment and Data/Technology) and provide leadership for the QEP Development Team of 20+ members from across campus.
  • Facilitate the annual assessment of QEP Student Learning Outcomes.
  • Lead the annual review of and revision/updates to the QEP as needed and prepare results and findings for annual institutional progress reports and a five-year QEP evaluation report to SACSCOC.
  • Supervise the QEP Staff.
  • Oversee the QEP budget, purchasing decisions and all financial files and records; design and oversee faculty/staff grant program and annual distribution of funds to campus High Impact Experience (HIE) programs.
  • Collaborate with campus leaders of departments, programs and colleges to create and maintain a dashboard of HIE participation and a campus HIE inventory.
  • Collaborate with other campus constituents as needed.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Post baccalaureate credentials (completion of MA/MS minimum)
  • Experience and expertise in educational and student learning assessment
  • Expertise or familiarity with high impact practices, experiential learning, and/or Quality Enhancement Plan management
  • Project and budgetary management experience
  • Data analysis experience
Other Required Qualifications
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Significant and successful record of engaging with, designing and implementing student success initiatives aimed at increasing access and participation among all students, including those from historically underrepresented groups
  • Evidence of ability to work effectively both independently and in collaboration with a variety of campus and community stakeholders (administrators, faculty, staff and students)
  • Experience supervising staff and student staff
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with/understanding of a QEP.
  • Proficiency in data management software, learning management systems and survey software.
