Job Summary

The QBC Graduate Programs are in search of a highly organized and motivated Programs Assistant to work in a fast paced and multi-layered environment. The individual will assist the wide variety of activities key to the successful operation of the QBC Graduate Programs.  The Programs Assistant will support the QBC Graduate Programs through coordination of services and meetings, evaluating and reporting deliverables, draft content for online communications, and logistical support for event coordination. The Programs Assistant will utilize organizational, communication, technical and coordination skills in addition to analytical skills for supporting key activities and projects.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree and at least one year of experience in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.

NOTE: This is a one year contract hybrid position. The incumbent will be required to report minimum of two days on site. Additional days dependent on business needs.  Three days required during initial 3-month contract period.

Department Description

The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is one of three departments in the UCSF School of Pharmacy and is under the administrative oversight of the Department Chair, Michelle Arkin. Through research and teaching, the Department seeks to understand the biological principles of small molecules, proteins, and cellular design, and to apply these principles for the therapeutic benefit of patients.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • At least 1 year of related experience.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff verbally and in writing.
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.
