Purdue Convocations Student Graphic Design Intern - Student Clerical

Purdue Convocations is a multi-disciplinary performing arts presenting organization based at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. For more than a century, Convos has served the region as a presenter of world-class, national and international artists across the performing arts and entertainment spectrum, with over 30 productions each academic year in multiple campus and community venues ranging from 140-6,000 seats. As a presenter at an institution of higher education, Convos has a strong tradition of curricular engagement as it connects visiting artists with classroom discourse in both the pre-school to grade 12 and collegiate communities. Widely recognized for its diverse programmatic vision, Convos explores classic and contemporary aesthetics, presents established as well as emerging artists, participates in the creation of new work, and benefits from the presence of an internationalized, educated audience. Convos is a leader within the local, statewide and national arts community and an active member of national and international professional associations.

The primary role of the graphic design intern position is providing graphic design, video editing, videography and photography support to the Purdue Convocations Marketing Department. The goal of this position is to give students valuable real-world experience in a professional in-house design environment. The graphic design intern position should work 10-12 hours per week during the current semester. Those hours may be worked in any combination, at the discretion of the direct supervisor. The graphic design intern position must be reliable, organized, responsible, and flexible. They must also be ambitious, detail-oriented, creative, and driven. 
 
Prerequisite(s)

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in design, video editing and photography software (inDesign, Photoshop, Premiere, iMovie). Candidates must provide physical or digital samples at interview.

• High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of one semester of college coursework successfully completed
• Must be actively enrolled at Purdue University, Purdue Global or a local accredited college.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to learn new software programs
• Flexible and dependable with a strong attention to detail
• Problem solving, logic and reasoning skills
• Customer service oriented
• Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines

• Have an interest in the performing arts 
• Pursuit of a degree in art/design, marketing, communications, or fine/performing arts preferred

• Design print and digital promotional materials in a look consistent with other Convocations marketing materials and Purdue brand guidelines, including but not limited to ads, flyers, posters, social media)
• Help with video projects for use online and in social media promotions
• Photography at Convocations events throughout the year as needed
• Exhibit friendliness, diplomacy, and tact in responding to customers
• Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional conduct when handling sensitive information 
• Present ideas to division senior leadership as identified
• Responsible for all scheduled shifts (based on class/exam schedules for the semester)
• Other duties as assigned
