Public Health Admin Specialist

Manage internal and external communications for the Community Outreach and Engagement Office (COE). Develop and implement strategic public health communication plans based on COE priorities, health data, and community focus groups and surveys. Monitor reach, engagement, and relevant analytics. Provide project management services for public health communications initiatives. Prepare and present reports and outcomes to COE stakeholders and leadership. Translate public health information into community facing reports, fact sheets, and infographics. Collaborate with the Rogel Cancer Center communications office, the COE community advisory board, researchers, and faculty. Conduct focus groups and community listening sessions. Assist in the development and dissemination of health education materials. Design and disseminate promotional materials for COE public education events, community grants, and other initiatives. Utilize motivational interviewing strategies to develop resources for community health workers, patient navigators, and other health professionals. Prepare technical reports and contribute to grant proposals, abstracts, and journal articles.

Reports to: The Director for Community Outreach and Engagement.

Department Summary: Rogel Cancer Center, Office of Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) aims to understand and reduce cancer disparities across the state of Michigan. Programs and services include public education, evidence-based cancer interventions, training and capacity building and support for innovative research. The COE identifies and monitors cancer related health disparities, including incidence, mortality, screening, and other behavioral risk factors for unique populations. The Office implements evidence-based interventions in collaboration with local communities using community based participatory approaches.

As a Regional Public Health Specialist for the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center, you will champion public health initiatives that improve quality of life and health outcomes for Michigan?s underserved populations. You will help reduce barriers to care associated with the social determinants of health, improve access to cancer screening and increase healthy lifestyle opportunities. Colleagues will support you to publish and present your work in peer reviewed journals and national conferences.
