The USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work is seeking a Project Specialist. 

The Project Specialist job description includes management and coordination for day-to-day operations of several research studies, some of which are funded through the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The Project Specialist will coordinate and execute duties for both quantitative and qualitative research projects that include, but are not limited to, project organization (e.g., scheduling meetings, keeping minutes, organized deadlines); participant recruitment and outreach (e.g., making community partnerships, designing outreach materials, scheduling interviews with participants); gathering research data (e.g., interviewing participants, monitoring online survey sites, developing data collection instruments); executing project reporting (e.g., IRB amendments, financial records, funder reporting, submitting manuscripts to journals); and interfacing with research teams (e.g., managing undergraduate research assistants). Higher level tasks include data cleaning and descriptive data analysis with quantitative data; codebook development and coding analysis of qualitative data; co-authoring manuscripts and conference abstracts.

This position is a grant-funded position, with the ability for an extension with a competitive renewal for the project’s funding.

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, public health, or other allied health field
  • 2 years
  • Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum work experience

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Master’s degree in psychology, public health, or other allied health field
  • Participant outreach and recruitment
  • Submitting and maintaining institutional review board protocols
  • Organizing project tasks, timelines, and deadlines
  • Developing and maintaining study databases in Excel
  • Programming online survey instruments
  • Conducts qualitative interviews/focus groups
  • Facilitates transcription of qualitative data
  • Manages undergraduate research assistants
  • Designs study recruitment materials
  • Completes all annual NIH reporting required
  • Generates codebooks for qualitative data analysis
  • Composes and maintains codebooks for databases
  • Conducts descriptive analyses of databases
  • Conducts missing data analyses of databases
  • Conducts cleaning of analytic databases
  • Manages manscript submission processes

Compensation: The hourly rate range for this position is $28.31 to $35.12. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
