Reporting to the Deputy Director of Election Law at The Ohio State University (ELOSU), the ELOSU Project Management Senior Coordinator manages all aspects of the design, organization, and management of research projects and related activities of the Election Law at Ohio State (ELOSU) program. Primary duties include support the planning and development of grant proposals and preparing applications for funding; development of materials and presentations related to ELOSU faculty research; drafting memos, presenting, and reporting on ELOSU activities; curating ELOSUs social media presence; supporting regular ELOSU team meetings; and organizing biennial Election Central, a major research and outreach event on the days surrounding each federal election, involving logistics, communications, and coordination duties.

Responsibilities:

  • (40%) Supports the planning, development of grant proposals, and preparing other applications for funding; designs materials and presentations from content provided by ELOSU faculty; drafts memos and reports on ELOSU activities; attends external meetings with or on behalf of faculty members.

  • (30%) Responsible for organizing regular ELOSU team meetings; helps develop meeting agendas; provides direction for ELOSU student research assistants; tracks ELOSU budget; supports ELOSU faculty with calendar management; drafts emails for ELOSU faculty; manages content on ELOSU website pages on Moritz website and helps manage Major Pending Election Cases (MPEC) site which includes, but not limited to communicating with web developer, handling billing, assisting with design of content and updates, and ensuring accessibility; archives content from prior ELOSU websites (maintains 15 years of commentary, events, projects, and case tracking on archives website).

  • (20%) Sets up and manages Zoom meetings/webinars; produces accompanying slides, flyers, event webpages; engages closed captioners; generates video recordings for posting and ensures captions are accurate on posted recordings; supports the planning, coordinates and executes the biennial Election Central, a major research and outreach event on the days surrounding each federal election, involving complex logistics, communications, & coordination duties.

  • (10%) Interfaces with the public, students, academics, members of the press, and others; directs press requests to ELOSU faculty; assists in evaluating press requests; sets up press calls; manages ELOSU email account, ELOSU twitter handle, and ELOSU Mailchimp list; promotes ELOSU activities via various channels; compiles data for and creates annual ELOSU Year in Review report; coordinates joint projects, such as the 2020 ELOSU/SCOTUS Blog collaboration to provide rapid analysis of pending election litigation.

Required Qualifications: High School diploma or GED; 2 years of experience in program planning and administration; progressive experience working in an administrative capacity; experience using social media and survey platforms; demonstrated ability to work with a high level of autonomy, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.

Desired Qualifications: Associate degree in relevant field; knowledge of university organization and procedures; familiarity with technology and data policy or law; experience in public relations or customer service; one year of event coordination experience; advanced knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, scheduling and presentation software; ability to work both independently and as a member of a team; proven ability to communicate and collaborate with academic, public-policy, and business stakeholders in an effective and professional manner; strong writing and editing skills
