Job Summary
The University of New Orleans is seeking a candidate to assume the role of CETOC Project Manager. This position will provide administrative, managerial, and research support to the newly funded Center for Equitable Transit Oriented Communities (CETOC) and the University of New Orleans Transportation Institute (UNOTI), which incorporates applied and scholarly research with education and outreach initiatives to support advancements in both passenger and freight transportation systems.

Job Description

The University of New Orleans is seeking a candidate to assume the role of CETOC Project Manager. This position will provide administrative, managerial, and research support to the newly funded Center for Equitable Transit Oriented Communities (CETOC) and the University of New Orleans Transportation Institute (UNOTI), which incorporates applied and scholarly research with education and outreach initiatives to support advancements in both passenger and freight transportation systems.

Position duties:

  • The CETOC Project Manager reports to the UNOTI Director and is responsible for 1) all of the reporting and record keeping of two USDOT grants, 2) administration of the RFP, proposal review, and proposal award process associated with these grants, 3) assistance with seminars, conferences, and other events, 4) maintenance of all center files.

  • Organizes and expedites flow of work through supervisor’s office and/or administrative department. Initiates follow-up action. Serves as a resource to others on departmental and university procedures or in the resolution of moderate to complex problems or issues. Interacts with university offices and/or supervisor’s subordinates to facilitate communications and information exchange.

  • Composes and produces a variety of business correspondence, reports, confidential documents and/or forms, and related materials.

  • Coordinates department public relations functions, as assigned, such as special events, social media, conferences, seminars, marketing materials, etc.

  • Monitors assigned budget expenditures and/or special actions and reports on variances.

  • Manage and assist Principal Investigators with projects, ensure that project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.

  • Work with internal and external university funded project teams to create project reports for the funding agencies.

  • Coordinate deliverables between internal and external university transportation teams to provide deliverables to funding agencies.

  • Assist with facilitation of meetings.

  • Other tasks as directed.

As a designated U.S. Department of Transportation University Transportation Center, UNOTI’s faculty, staff and students are leaders in creating a sustainable transportation system, including all modes of passenger and freight transportation.

UNOTI offers research, professional outreach and education programs. Students can pursue transportation studies through a variety of degree programs including our innovative Master of Science in Transportation professional program, as well as an interdisciplinary Ph.D., an accredited Master of Urban and Regional Planning, or a Master of Urban Studies within our affiliated Department of Planning and Urban Studies (PLUS). Undergraduate offerings in PLUS also include a Bachelor of Urban Studies.

Our core expertise includes policy for sustainable, resilient, and safe transport systems, specifically relating to maritime and port planning, transit planning, walking, bicycling and transit-oriented development.

We are leading contributors to local, regional, national, and international sponsored research projects and our faculty and staff serve on many professional boards and organizations, including the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education

  • Minimum Experience: 3 years, Combined experience/post bachelor education as substitute for minimum experience

  • Strong organizational, technological and computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Education: Masters degree in Urban Studies, Urban Planning, Transportation, Public Administration, or related field

  • Professional research experience in the fields of transportation and/or urban planning

  • Proficiency with ArcGIS, statistics, and/or other data processing software

  • Previous management experience

  • Previous community outreach and engagement experience

  • Proficiency in graphic design, photography, and/or Adobe Creative Suite
