The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

The Department of Epidemiology at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health seeks a Project Coordinator to assist in the coordination and management of several projects funded by the NIH and private foundations in New York, Chicago, and Kenya, Africa related to substance use, sleep and HIV among racial and sexual minorities including Black sexual minority men, Transgender women and men. The incumbent will report directly to the Program manager and meet with the Principal Investigator. They will assist in literature reviews, protocol development, biospecimen collection and management, survey development, lead dissemination and securing further external funding,  data collection, data quality control, database management and maintenance, preliminary data analyses, participant recruitment and retention, and manuscript preparation, spatial/GPS data, writing, and/or editing, and presentation of materials for conferences and lectures and in submission of IRB protocols and assist with capacity building. The project coordinator will work closely with the Program manager, by managing and mentoring research assistant interns as they work through ideas.  Other responsibilities include organizing meetings, reporting on the progress of the project, and otherwise supporting the project???s administration and will perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor???s degree. Must have experience working with Sexual and Gender Minority/LGBT populations.

  • The successful candidate must possess a high level of initiative, clear communication skills, and attention to detail, in addition to a demonstrated ability to be flexible to the study???s evolving needs.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master???s degree in public health or related field. Knowledge of substance use and/or HIV research. Minimum of two years of relevant experience is required.
