Position Summary

MUST BE WORK STUDY ELIGIBLE

The University of New Mexico College of Population Health is seeking a motivated, focused and accountable candidate with demonstrable experience in various aspects of research, interviewing and writing skills with an opportunity to create a portfolio of work. This position requires a basic understanding of writing for communications to aid in the development and promotion of the College of Population Health’s “voice” and UNM’s brand to create successful messaging to a variety of internal and external audiences.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Researching topics and interviewing candidates to write stories that may be published in the COPH Newsroom, website, Impact Report, Email newsletters, social media, or other locations
  • Assist in generating ideas and developing an initial draft of documents
  • Editing and proofreading documents to ensure they are error-free and comply with the organization's style guidelines and editorial standards
  • Gathering/organization of content communications
Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills; verbal and written
  • Ability to negotiate and meet deadlines
  • Experience with interviewing is a plus
  • Experience in Microsoft programs (Word and Excel)
  • Professional mentality and willingness to take direction and learn from feedback
  • Creative thinker and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) is a plus
